1969
Born in the Bronx in New York, Hobie Brown is a gifted young black and angry that was fired from his job as a window cleaner.
Using his expertise, he makes a suit of super-villain in the to steal, without hurting anyone.

However, when the costume is green and purple, he crossed paths with Peter Parker. The succession of events the plunge in doubt.
In this context, it is quickly defeated then exposed by Spider-Man, realizing he is a misunderstood teenager (like him), gives him the opportunity to redeem himself and not wasting his life in crime.

When the young Manny is murdered, the Ranger believes that the White Tiger (Hector Ayala) is responsible and is trying to bring to justice.
The Ranger then attempts to join the Defenders ...
but in a battle he finds himself ejected from the Vilkyrie that inflates to block strikes in the pile making no difference between his new allies and enemies. Hobie decides to withdraw immediately from the group.
Hobie is stealing his costume and equipment by a young offender influenced by the criminal Belladonna fashion.
The R Odor II guilty of wrongdoing rather than Hobie wants to stop it but Spiderman persuades him to stay home and keep his distance because the new Ranger is sought for murder.

Spectacular Spider-Man # 47 (10/80)
While Peter Parker is California to promote his book of photographs "web", the Ranger reappears in Beverly Hills, where in order to avoid jail for his wife Mindy, he attacked Black Fox, an international jewelry thief who tries to steal the Chalice of Valencia.
Indeed, Mindy has accepted a job as an accountant in New Transcorp York has been charged with fraud. To exonerate himself, the company presented false books of account to blame Mindy.
Hobie recovered the true books of account and was stored on a computer chip that was then hidden in the Cup where no one would dream of going to look.
The Ranger and Spiderman teamed up to face the Black Fox and recover the Chalice.
In France, the episode was published in Strange # 238 (10/89) iCi .
Hobie finally managed to clear his wife with the help of Spiderman and the Black Fox.
Rover tries to exonerate the latest Spiderman of a crime and meet for the first time Silver Sable and the Outlaws, a group of rehabilitated villains like Sandman , Roller Skater and Puma.
